Transform your presentation with remarkable messages

It is easy to transform your presentation by ensuring you have a remarkable message. What is a remarkable message? It is simply a message that communicates the right ideas and details to the audience its being delivered to!

That’s easier said than done…

But, when you have the right message you get results.

Earlier this week I was driving to the train station and pulled up at a set of traffic lights behind a bus. As is standard the bus in front of me was a mobile billboard, plastered with ad’s. No different from any other bus on the road. I normally pay no attention to the ad’s (consciously at least).

On this occasion I did notice the ad. What was different?

It spoke directly to me!

With football season just finished I’ve been coaching my sons team – with plenty of early kick offs (you know you’re living when you stand on the sidelines of cold and windy football field at 8am).

What was the message on the ad? “Remember all those crack of dawn footy games?”

It was a message that spoke directly to me. As a result it got through the mental barriers that filter out all the “noise” and I paid attention.

Bev's Story

One remarkable client, Bev Lewis, applied these principles with a one minute presentation she delivered at the NSW business chamber.

When we first started working together she had a pitch that was generic, trying to speak to everybody in the room. If you’ve ever attended a NSW Chamber networking event you’ll recognise that there are businesses from many industries and different stages in their growth and development. One message won’t work for a room like this.

Together, Bev and I identified who the optimal clients were that she wanted to reach and we crafted a pitch that would speak directly to those clients. She didn’t need to speak to all three hundred people in the room – she could get far more value and make a bigger impact targeting her message. The result, from a one-minute presentation she got 4 new clients!

How can you transform your presentation?

How can you achieve results like Bev and transform your presentation?

Firstly, know who you are targeting and speaking to. The better you know you’re the people you want to communicate to the more success you will have.

Next, select ideas, examples, statistics that will resonate with them. Whether you are targeting by industry or by life stage, or by any other mechanism find the examples that will most likely apply to your target audience.

Finally, use their language and phrasing. Show you care and understand your audience by describing your value and what you do in terms and phrases that they understand.

When you invest the time to understand your audience and tailor your message it is easy to transform your presentation. This investment will be rewarded as your clients pay attention to what you are presenting and take the actions you want them to. All because you spoke to them in their situation.
